Walter Mark Duda (aka Mark Duda) was born on March 1, 1971, in Madison, WI, to Walter Frank Duda, a Naval Officer, and Tresa Ann Duda, a published poet. Over the last few years, Mark has made a significant impact on the New York rock and roll scene with his storytelling style and relatable lyrics. Graduating from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree, Duda’s passion for music took him on an exciting journey that began in 1988 as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the punk rock band AGI (Amorphis Geometric Impossibilities). Throughout the 1990s, Duda continued his musical endeavors, fronting various bands such as Billy Goats Gruff, Vehicle, and American Fly. He frequently performed at renowned New York venues including CBGB, Continental Divide, The Bitter End, and the Knitting Factory, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the local music scene.
In the early 2000’s, Mark Duda began a string of albums and concert performances with local band, The Handful. In 2017, Duda embarked on a solo career following the release of The Handful’s album “Sons of Downtown”, which featured world class musicians including Bobby Rondinelli, Pat Travers, Cheetah Chrome, and Cherrie Currie. His debut solo effort from 2017, “Month of Sundays,” featured a talented band of Kenny Aaronson, Thommy Price, and Jimmi K. Bones, and received critical acclaim, propelling Duda to new heights and solidifying his position as one of the foremost songwriters and vocalists in the New York City rock and roll scene. The success of “Month of Sundays” led to the highly regarded album “Bodega Flowers,” produced by Jimmi K. Bones, which quickly sold out and claimed the top spot-on Amazon’s New Indie Rock Chart.
